Dental implants generally work like this: first there is a small metal post that is implanted directly into your jawbone. This metal eventually becomes bonded with your natural bone, and comes together to form the foundation and support system for your new replacement tooth. The replacement tooth usually is attached later on, after anywhere from around three to six months, once our Aurora prosthodontist deems the foundation strong enough to complete the restoration. We are currently working on a procedure that would speed up this process significantly, called All on Four Dental Implants. After an initial appointment including an x-ray and clinical examination in order to evaluate the current state of your teeth and the surrounding structures of your mouth, you would then return to Dr. Williamson’s office for a second visit. During this visit, we would place four implants on either the upper or lower arch of your mouth, and then the replacement teeth would be screwed in immediately, on the spot rather than after that waiting period of several months. In these cases, the patients would leave the office either with a set of temporary or permanent replacement teeth that same day, allowing them to more quickly improve their smiles and quality of life.
