Teeth are not perfect, over time most of us have teeth that develop small chips and cracks and inevitably become discolored from simply eating and drinking. Dr. Derrick L. Williamson, DDS helps patients regain those perfect teeth they were born with through the use of many different teeth restorations including Lisle veneers. The best procedure will depend on the individual patient’s needs but often the method of choice involves using dental veneers.
Our doctor uses dental veneers when the tooth has small cracks and chips that need covering to not only improve the tooth’s appearance but also protect it from allowing decay forming bacteria to enter the tooth. Lisle veneers are thin sheets of porcelain that fit over the front of the tooth. Veneers are also used by our practice to even out a tooth that may be a bit smaller than the surrounding teeth or may be uneven. The porcelain can be made either tooth-colored to match the neighboring tooth, which is why veneers are ideal to cover teeth that are discolored or maybe badly stained. Veneers can be placed on all the front teeth to whiten a patient’s smile.
Lisle veneers are used as teeth restorations as an alternative to crowns, which cover the whole tooth instead of just the front. Crowns require removing some of the tooth’s material while veneers can usually be placed without further ruining the original tooth. Compared to crowns veneers is a more cost effective and conservative restoration method. Crowns are best for more involved restorations where a large chunk of the tooth has to be removed or the chewing surface has been severely impacted by decay or injury. If you have teeth with small cracks and chips or are off-color call our office for an appointment to see if dental veneers are the right fix for your teeth.
